COLUMBUS, Ohio — After a massive offseason overhaul, the 2021-22 Blue Jackets are barely recognizable from the club that spent most of the last decade trying to contend in the Metropolitan Division and earn elusive respect across the NHL.
Captain Nick Foligno and three players of notable presence in the organization — Cam Atkinson, Seth Jones and David Savard — were traded in a three-month span from last season’s trade deadline to this summer’s free agency.
Yes, the Blue Jackets will look drastically different on the ice and will sound dramatically different in the dressing room, with new opportunities for players and new leaders bound to emerge.
Even the winningest coach in franchise history, John Tortorella, has been replaced by his understudy of the past seven seasons, Brad Larsen.
But thankfully, one thing remained the same.
